Vessell’s Fitness Complex
Success Story Of:
Dean Smith

Meet Dean Smith, a 4-year veteran to Vessell’s Fitness.  When Dean came to Vessell’s he wore a beard that even his wife had never seen him without.  Well now it isn’t just his face that is different but also his health and conditioning.

“When I started my fitness program, I had constant low back pain.  Now I am pain free, have lowered my cholesterol levels, increased my overall strength and am more fit than ever in my life.   I’ve been on a high-protein, low-fat, quality carbohydrate diet for 2 years.  It has helped keep my body fat low and maintain the necessary muscle growth I desire.”

Dean faithfully lifts 3x per week with each workout taking about an hour.  For cardio, he uses his Nordic Trac 3x per week for about 30-40 minutes but recently joined the 6:00 am Boot Camp class.  He enjoys Ra’s challenging workouts and the variety to his cardio has been good.

Dean attributes much of his lifting knowledge to Don Schaffer and Mike Sandifer who have helped him maintain diversity to his program.  John and Mark Murphey are his lifting partners and finds this accountability important to fitness.  Exercise has become a family affair for the Smith’s.  Dean’s enthusiasm drew his wife, Sandy into her own program.  She too lifts and attends Aquacize.

Dean is an avid backpacker and recently returned from a 3-day hike in the Pecos Wilderness.  He says that his improved fitness conditioning makes his hobby all the more enjoyable.
